Who I am : My name is Georgia Woodward. I am a freelance writer, and aspiring author. In the last three years I have taken my writing from a part time interest, to a full time venture. I have always longed to have spare time to write, and let my artistic side loose. I gradually left the 9-5 world so that I could find more time to write, and pursue a creative life. It is amazing what can happen when you take a chance on yourself. Believe it, and watch how your dreams really can come true. It takes wanting it bad enough, and being willing and open to keep trying. The first step is in believing that you have something valuable to offer. One thing leads to another, and bit by bit you are living the life that you have always dreamed of. It starts with a simple intention to live your best life, be your most authentic self, and express who you are. From there anything is possible.
Our lives are no longer a one act scene. There is always room for redefining our identity, and making room for change, in order live your passion while reaching our for what Martha Beck defines as your own North Star. The transition from the first act of life to the second can be scarey and exhilerating all at once. Long ago, I had a childhood dream. The dream went something like this; some day I would like to write a mystery novel. I really did not know how that dream would make it's way into day to day reality. The dream started to manifest itself by the desire to have more time to write. As I spent more and more time writing, I really wanted some constructive feedback. I was lucky enough to hear of a local Writer's Group, and brave enough to read my writing.
Getting Feedback:
The Writer's Group is a great idea for anyone looking to promote their own writing, and to progress in their writing ability. It is a safe place to read and get a variety of feedback from other seasoned, or aspiring writers. I am currently working on a mystery novel that is in the editing phase. I am also working on a variety of freelance articles for publication.
`The Sudden Chill' is a story about an Aunt's death, and a niece that is the only living heir. The setting is in rural Vermont. Megan Bradford, (the niece), goes with her husband to Vermont from where they live in Ma. with the intention of taking care of the family affairs. While there they discover that Aunt Emily's death is indeed a homicide, and motive becomes the key question, as a seasoned Detective named Hal Grodin works hard to get to the bottom of the case. Who in this sleepy town could have wanted Emily Krieger dead? Megan comes to realize that everyone she thought she could trust has something to gain, and finds herself very much alone, yet standing in a more powerful position than she ever had before in her young life. I will be posting a novel excerpt soon.
